Should I wear my military dress uniform to a job interview?

I have a couple of electronics job interviews and wonder if I should wear my military dress uniform. Trops, bravos or some dress clothes.Should I wear my military dress uniform to a job interview? All services' uniform regulations forbid the wear of the uniform to further one's private business or employment interests. It's also against the Joint Ethics Regulation.

You're going as yourself, not as Sergeant or Petty Officer Whomever. Wear a civilian suit.Should I wear my military dress uniform to a job interview?
No, wear a suit. When you interview you should try to match the environment.Should I wear my military dress uniform to a job interview? If your interviewer is a female, then YES!
No you can not do that. What the hell is wrong with you?Should I wear my military dress uniform to a job interview?noShould I wear my military dress uniform to a job interview?
dress for the job you want, not the job you have- so no.
are you still in the military? if so then hell yeah! if not then hell no!Should I wear my military dress uniform to a job interview?
If it is not a military job, then do not wear the uniform. As a recruiter, I know that some employers have concerns that former military might have issues adjusting to a non-military workplace culture. (Personally, I feel that the military experience is an asset--I feel it is more likely that they are timely and reliable).

If you wear the uniform to a non-military interview, they might think that you're having trouble letting go of the military.

I'd wear dress slacks and a dress shirt. Maybe a tie....
yup i heard your not aloud to wear your uniform in public or youll get in trouble
Don't wear the uniform. What you wear should be suited to the type of job you are seeking. Don't wear a uniform, don't over dress, and good luck!
If you are no longer in the military it would be inappropriate to wear your uniform under those circumstances. To a military type gathering (VFW or funeral of a fellow soldier) then yes, job interview no.
yeah, that would be totally creepy.
Nope...your resume should list your military experience
if you think it will help get the job, why not?

just be prepared for dumb political questions

I CHANGE MY ANSWER, GO WITH BILL'S BELOW.
If it has nothing to do with your military services then no. I would just wear a your typical business suit. They will see and note your military skills and knowledge in your resume

How hard is it to be a military girlfriend?

I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years now, he is joining the navy to be a corpsman. Im pretty sad about it, we have been together almost every single day since we got together. We do have plans to get married in a few years (just to make sure long distance will work for us) How difficult is it to maintain a long distance relationship with someone in the military and what is the best way to let him know you support him in every way. If you have ever been in the military what was the best thing to hear or get from your sweetie back home? Thanks in advance!!How hard is it to be a military girlfriend? Its going to take a strong woman to be a military wife and I am sure you could handle it.Just remember:

1.Your boyfriend needs 100% of your support.

a.He needs your letters

b.He needs to smell your perfume

c.He needs to feel you need him

d.He needs to know you love him unconditionally

2.You have to remember he is military owned. He eats, drinks, and pisses military and you have to understand that.

3.You must not be selfish, let him know what goes on at home but dont burden him with idle petty b.s that could upset him.

4.Trust him,he is not screwing anyone,if you dont hear from him for a while,it is his job not a girlfriend.

AND MOST OF ALL FROM ALL OF US,THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING HIM AND THANK HIM FOR PROTECTING US.GOD BLESS YOU BOTH.How hard is it to be a military girlfriend?
wtf. why did "vuezta" sound like he was emotionally attached to a man in the uniform?? don't ask don't tell!

How hard is it to be a military girlfriend?I am surprised that no one has attacked your question yet. I have been in the military for 21 years. What I can tell you is that this decision is a good one over all. If you are planning to get married, the military lifestyle provides great stability, the pay is not as good as one would get on the outside, money wise, but the Medical benefits are excellent. the money gets better as time goes on.

Military spouses are the glue that hold the military together. They have to go thru long periods of being with out their loved ones, but as the old saying goes, they keep the home fires burning. Its not an easy life being a military spouse, but its a good one. As for the long distance, If the relations ship is strong, the it will survive. I have been away for a year at a time, we are able to communicate on a regular basis, plus there is great support systems in the service. Wives get together and support them selves and there is good websites that you can utilize as well. It will work, but you both have to make it work.. You will be fine if you have faith and good friends.
I dated someone who was in the military. We both met right before he had to go into basic training. It was hard cuz he really couldn't call or talk much and was hard on both of us.

Really, long distance relationships aren't for everyone. They are tough to work at and you and your boyfriend wont get to see each other that often. He will get leave after basic training but not for that long. It does take work on both of you and a lot of things will change. He will change and so will you. If you both want the relationship to work, you both have to put some effort in it.

Unfortunately, with me, when I dated someone who was in the service, we ended up losing contact somehow and I guess going our own ways. We have no hard feelings towards each other and sometimes I think what life may be like now if we were still together. How hard is it to be a military girlfriend?veryHow hard is it to be a military girlfriend?
Well if you want me to tell you what you WANT to hear...

Everything is going to be great and he will write you and call you every chance that he gets....

But, if you want me to be honest....

He is going to change A LOT. Everyone does. He will start seeing things and going places that he has never been before. He is going to meet a lot of new people and have a completely different life.

Being in the military changes your entire way of thinking. I am not saying that it is NOT going to work...I just know from experience that the deck is stacked against you.

If you get married fairly quickly once he gets out of bootcamp....maybe...but a couple years?? That's a long time.
its hard very hard to be in love with a military man. you will still love him but soon, your needs are gonna come crying. you will need someone whos there for you, emotionally and physically. good luck. How hard is it to be a military girlfriend?
Any long distance relationship is difficult but not impossible. It will take both of you to make it work.
It's not hard if you're adaptable and loyal and can trust your partner. Likewise, if you are those things, especially the loyal and trusting part, those are some of the best ways to show your support for your service-member. When they know you're okay, even if they're gone, and they know that you're not screwing around, they can focus more on their jobs and doing their best. Showing support takes a lot more than sticking a ribbon magnet to your car.

If you're used to him being around constantly, you're bound to have some adjustment issues, but if you (both) care enough, you'll get through it.

My husband and I just had our 6th anniversary in August and he'll hit his 7 year mark in the Army in March. It hasn't exactly been a pleasure cruise, that's for sure, but you learn to go with it and to change where needed.
it is hard,, because there alot of family separations involved and alot of moving a deploying.

thankfully the military have personnel that will help family members as much as they can go through deployments and family separations.
i am currently in the military with my girlfriend of a little over 4 years living in another state that is not nearby. IF WE can stay together this long without seeing each other make it through 3 deployments. I honestly think if the 2 of you really want to be with one another it will work
It depends on you, are you comfortable with being away from him for long periods of time? do you trust him? and how do you feel about moving around alot? These are all things you should look at, weigh the pros and cons, you should decided which is more important and how much you love him. Would you go to the end of the universe and back? If so love can over come anything

What branch of the military will space warships be under?

I'm pretty sure everyone has seen a sci-fi movie or read a book where there vessels in space designed for war in space and they are most commonly under the United States Navy simply because the space "ships" have a lot in common with Naval Ships on the ocean. But isn't the Airforce the branch in control of space warfare? So in the future, if we did create space warfare vessels, what branch in the military should they be under? What branch of the military will space warships be under? An interesting question. One that we have talked about on a slow shift in the middle of the night. I work in a Joint organization, so we have all the services on a shift, with a variety of opinions.

Our consensus is that it will be a Navy-style force, maybe not part of the Navy, but one organized as a naval force.

The Navy comes with a doctrine that, with modifications for whatever craft will be used, already supports what we think of as space-based operations.

The Navy also has a tradition and history that supports the sort of long-distance, single-command, no-higher support that was common in the pre-instant communications Navy, and will likely be the norm in a space-based force.

As long as we have an "Air" Force, or even "Aerospace" Force, it will be wedded to planetary operationsWhat branch of the military will space warships be under?

Good Luck! What branch of the military will space warships be under?Considering that what you're suggesting may not come out for hundreds of years at a minimum; nobody can even give an educated guess. For all we know, they may develop an all-new branch, or they may combine the current branches. We can worry about that when it happens, which will probably be long after your great, great, great grandchildren have already grown old and died.
The most likely possibility is the militarization of the space program and the creation of a new "branch" that would be organized like the Navy, but made up of mostly civilian personnel and former Air Force members. What branch of the military will space warships be under?US Space Command Aurora Space Fleet... Join the Reserves or Guard of some branch or another. That way you can work towards earning your nursing degree while you serve part time. Once you become a full nurse, you can go Active Duty if you want. If you go Active Duty first, you won't have much time for college courses. You might get through a few, and you can always use the GI Bill after serving three or four years on Active Duty. You can get there, it's just a slower path. What is the best military branch to join for a high school gradute who want to become a nurse?None, the military does not train people to be Nurses.

What branch of the Military is best for staying in one spot and not transferring?

I am trying to figure this out; and I'd like to join the military, but i have a plan with several friends after high school to go to college for a few (4-5 tops) after high school. And id like to not be moving around as when i do get a family, I dont want to give them the trouble im facing of losing friends every 4 sometimes 2 years. What branch of the Military is best for staying in one spot and not transferring?Salvation Army.

ten bucks says your 'Plans" will change within a year of graduating high school.

the world does not end if you PCS. they have these wonderful things called phones, and internet now that allows you to keep in touch with friends and family no matter where you are. What branch of the Military is best for staying in one spot and not transferring?
It's very unlikely you'd be able to find a branch or even job that wouldn't require you to travel at all. I think you can do reserves and drill, and not move around much though. If you go full active duty you'll probably end up traveling, that's all there is to it really. I mean you could shoot for a branch that has bases near you and then hope for the best, but that's kind of like playing the lottery and most likely against your odds. What branch of the Military is best for staying in one spot and not transferring?Reserves is the role you may deploy but you will be stationed in one place, the other option is once in the reserves switch to active reserves. You are a reservist that works and retires like active duty, you work full time to support the rest of the reservists. What branch of the Military is best for staying in one spot and not transferring?
Your only option to not move alot of to join the Guard or the Reserves instead of going Active Duty. What branch of the Military is best for staying in one spot and not transferring?border patrol

  • If Obama cuts the military wont it make the unemployment rate reach higher levels than it already is?

Young men and women with families won't be able to find jobs!

Their children will live in poverty... Is this the way our veterans should live? NO WAY!! Cutting the Military size is going to reek havoc in the US! On top of what already going on!If Obama cuts the military wont it make the unemployment rate reach higher levels than it already is?Thats an excellent point, never thought of that. If he sends 40,000 troops overseas he`s essentially creating 40,000 jobs. In reality it may be only 10,000 if only 10,000 out of the 40,000 trops are not employed. But if they pull out of the war they will be creating a massive amount of unemployment....I never though tof it that way.If Obama cuts the military wont it make the unemployment rate reach higher levels than it already is?The president really doesn't have as much power as one would think. The house and senate vote on just about everything before it becomes official. You see how often they all disagree with stuff and how drawn out it can be.If Obama cuts the military wont it make the unemployment rate reach higher levels than it already is?What does it matter? If they are in the military, it's your tax dollars that are paying their salaries. Even if half of them wind up unemployed, we'll save a lot of money.

  • What are the benefits of having a degree and joining the military?

I am a post graduate with two Bachlor's degrees and married. What benefits would I recieve if I join the military (National Guard). Also how long is training? What are the benefits of having a degree and joining the military? If you have two Bachelor degrees you should look at becoming an officer. If you want to go the enlisted route you can come in has an E4.

Benefits are very limited in the NG unless activated for more than 30 days.

Basic is 9 weeks give or take a week of reception. Your MOS will determine how long you are in AIT/OSUT. You will received active duty pay, get separation pay and BAH during your basic and AIT. After you come back you just get normal drill pay. What are the benefits of having a degree and joining the military?Training is called BCT or Basic Combat Training. It is 9 weeks long with one processing week. It is beneficial to have a degree because you can be promoted at a faster rate and (don't quote me on this) you can get benefits when you enlist (or become an officer). It is also very helpful after your career in the NG. Employers will see that you have educational experience and all of the terrific traits of being a soldier.

P.S. After Basic and you are done with training, your spouse/family will get benefits.

    Good luck!

What happens to a military special operations unit when trapped out of country?

I'm trying to write a story, and I'm wondering what happens when the US military organizes a special "snatch and grab" operation with say navy seals, but something goes wrong and the unit is trapped in the other country? What would the country's government do?What happens to a military special operations unit when trapped out of country? The country they're in would probably try to capture or kill them...

If they're captured, then they'll probably get questioned (thoroughly), tortured, tried for being in their country illegally, trying to kidnap one of their citizens, etc, etc etc...

The verdict usually ends up being guilty with either execution or hard labor for a long time in prison...

Of course, they can also try to do a prisoner exchange (if the US is willing to negotiate)...but usually, something like this is disavowed and so there would be no prisoner exchange since they won't want to admit they had people in that country doing bad things...

Just a guess, since this is "hypothetical" in nature...What happens to a military special operations unit when trapped out of country?
    No way to know.

The country's leadership may order the foreigners eradicated by its military forces.

The local military commander may or may not cooperate depending on his own convictions.

The unit will perform its own evade and escape plan... in case evac don't come.

For a fictional scenario, see Tom Clancy's "Clear and Present Danger". A covert unit sent into Colombia to hit drug lords and drug factories was left behind when they became too "hot" to handle.

And in a certain way, the Mogadishu "Blackhawk Down" scenario is similar. Forces cut of in "foreign" territory, surrounded by bad guys, and rescue missions must be mounted.

Usually in those situations the Air Force has a Special Operations team who Specializes in the field of search and rescue of those behind the enemy line.

Passport and citizenship for germany with a Military discharge?

I am planning to move permanently to Germany when I get out of the military, my question is... Will I be able to apply for a US passport and for german citizenship with a "other than honorable" discharge from the US military?

Additional Info: I am currently trying to upgrade my discharge.Passport and citizenship for germany with a Military discharge? If you become a citizen of Germany you will be REQUIRED to renounce your US Citizenship. It's not optional. Only a natural born German is allowed to hold dual citizenship.

So, you won't be needing a US passport once you become a citizen of Germany.

*******The OTH will in NO WAY prevent you from getting a US passport.

If you got the OTH as a result of a court martial then you are considered to have a federal felony conviction. You can still get a US passport, but the German government, depending on what you were convicted of, might not grant you a visa.

The United States does not grant visas to immigrants who have been convicted of a "crime of moral turpitude" and I'd guess the Germans have a similar standard.

What if we grant Illegal aliens in US a deal for citizenship in exchange for military service?

I know people talk about the illegal immigrants in USA and some say they should stay and some say need to go.

What if we ship out the criminals, and offer others choice of military service as road to citizenship or leave and be able to apply for legal immigration.

If they took military service we would have more troops, and they would get job training that could be very handy in the private sector.

Don't think this is a universal solution but what do you think? What if we grant Illegal aliens in US a deal for citizenship in exchange for military service?hell no, that be like a draft. i rather want people that want to be in the Volunteer military force.

btw most illegal aliens never finish high school back in their home country..care to dumb down our military? What if we grant Illegal aliens in US a deal for citizenship in exchange for military service?
Since every person who violates immigration law has in fact committed a crime -- a felony, not just a misdemeanor -- no immigration-law violator should ever be allowed to stay. Besides, allow one to stay and a thousand more think they can break the law and get away with it, too.

Then consider that over 90% of immigration-law violators have committed additional crimes. And these illegal aliens generally cannot satisfactorily prove who they really are and that they were completely law-abiding in their home country - we have no idea who might have committed a robbery, rape, murder, whatever, and is fleeing before they get caught.

Very stupid, short-sighted idea to allow known lawbreakers to remain in the US under any circumstances. And we sure don't want them in the military! What if we grant Illegal aliens in US a deal for citizenship in exchange for military service?I know that there are men and women who have served in the US forces that were legals and they still had to go through the paper work and everything to get there citizenship. I know I would not want to be the one to slap them in the face for all there effort and hard work and hand a easy pass to illegals. As a legal, once again I say they need to do the paperwork like everyone else and pay the money it cost to be legal. I do not want to hear that is hard because I know this I was there.
Serving in the military is a PRIVILEGE to me. Being a LEGAL immigrant myself (I got my citizenship 3 months ago) I feel that you have to want to serve in the military. I served for 5 years and I felt it was the least I could do to give something back to the country that opened so many doors of opportunity for me. My family and I came here LEGALLY and it took us 10 years to get a green card. What if we grant Illegal aliens in US a deal for citizenship in exchange for military service?Yeah, I think its a perfect idea!!

But, it will never work. We have way way too many people in this country that will protest it. Even though its voluntary, they would hate the idea of getting something in return for military service.....and you and I both know who these people are. What if we grant Illegal aliens in US a deal for citizenship in exchange for military service?
Add 20 years of back taxes with penalties, tuition reimbursement of $10K for each year each child used public education and a fee equal to their share of medical care for their entire stay, and we might have a conversation starter.
no i do not, these illegals will not even fight to straighten out their home countries, what makes you think they would fight for our country, they would rather live here illegally than fight. why do you think they take they cowardly way out and run here. Report and Deport!!!What if we grant Illegal aliens in US a deal for citizenship in exchange for military service?
I dont. Why would we expect them to fight for us, when they will not fight for themselves in their own country. Never mind they disregard the laws of the US, again, how would we ever expect them to fight for something they do not obey/follow/respect?
What if all the illegals go through the NORMAL and LEGAL process like MILLIONS of other immigrants!!!
Absolutely not. I is moral turpitude to do that.
    hell no
what if we put all illegals in service for the 'other side'.That way we can kill 2 birds with one stone. !!!
There was a major riot in New York City during the Civil War. Irish immigrants were taken straight off the boats into the Union Army; back in those days Ellis Island was used to quarantine sick immigrants other then that anyone who set foot on our shores was a landed immigrant; we didn't have an INS or any kind of Bureaucracy established for "Immigration". Everyone was pretty much welcome here; but the immigrants did bring disease and crime with them and they also clung on to their cultural customs. The established Americans disliked the immigrants immensely, just like they do today; but the politicians loved them. The Irish set up a political spoils system that peaked under the mayoral reign of "Boss Tweed". The immigrants were absorbed into the police force as well as the military and they gained a lot of political power. Civil service jobs were doled out to friends; the rest is history and history repeats itself. The people that control the military have ultimate power because they have the the power of life and death. Are you sure that you want to put that kind of power in the hands of felons and illegal immigrants?
If they are criminals they should automatically get deported. If they are law abiding (w/the exception of them being here illegally) I think the option should be given. If they choose not to serve in the military or be a productive member of society, they should be deported too.

I work in military recruiting and we do have many illegal aliens/non-green card holders that come by to see if they can sign up. Of course we have to turn them away since you have to be a resident alien or a U.S citizen in order to serve in the military.

If they want to volunteer, I don't see the problem. Not all illegal aliens have ties to their country. The majority of them have been here for several generations and some have been in the states as early as their first memory, the only thing that stops them from being "American" is their birth certificate. It's the best way to show their allegiance to this country.

We have a hard enough time recruiting Americans. This could really help out the Army and Marines who have implemented stop-loss and recruitment of convicted felons.

  • Why is the Russian military considered one of the best in the world?

Its reasonably big. But most of the troops are weak farm boys drawn in by the draft. The technology is 20 years behind the times. Does the russian military excel in some area? What weapons or technololgy surpass what americans use?Why is the Russian military considered one of the best in the world?Ah, I share your curiosity. But the Russian military is not better than the American one. The only reason why Russia is still listed on the top ten list is because of their Soviet-inherited nuclear weapon stockpile (larger than the US stockpile) and their ex-Soviet planes and tanks. Also, their army is larger than the army of the United States but solely because of the draft. The Russian military is plagued by corruption and high position abuse. I myself am of Russian descent so you can trust my words. The Russian army is considered to be poorly equipped and unreasonably trained. Their service lasts for only a year which minimizes the experience level by 5 years compared to the US service time. The Russians do excel in anti-aircraft systems but with the introduction of the newer stealth jet fighters, their strong point is being quickly diminished. If every country had the draft and nuclear weapons were ruled out, the Russians would be far behind on the list. Why is the Russian military considered one of the best in the world?Their training is much harsher that the american one some would call it inhuman so even if they don't have the most modern weapons, they equality it through pure human capability also their technology is not that behind they have spies everywhereein the USA usually before the president knows about the new weapon Russia is already producing it.Why is the Russian military considered one of the best in the world?Russia's army is willing to do what America's can't. They will kill anyone and burn a town to ash. America has too many ties with the UN that we cannot effectively fight a war.Why is the Russian military considered one of the best in the world?
They pretty much just use upgraded ak-47/74s as their standard assault rifle they don't have much to surpass the U.S. Our technology is ahead of them in every way as far as we know.

What are the best careers or degrees to hold as a military spouse?

I am looking for careers or degrees that travel well from location to location or those for which you can telecommute. I'm looking for actual military spouses with experience in this realm. Also, advice contrary to a certain career would be helpful as well. (i.e. I was a nurse and had trouble getting recertified each time we moved...)

I have a bachelors degree in Communication and I interned in HR. I am interested in getting my master's soon, but I'm debating into which field I should enter. Any advice? What are the best careers or degrees to hold as a military spouse?I'm in the same boat. I have a bachelors in anthropology, but there is not much that I can do with it since we have to move every 2-3 years. I am working as an admin at the moment and there is a future at my company, with the option of telecommuting when we psc again. But I really would like to get a masters degree but have no clue what to major in.

Though I am not at all interested in it, you could always get your MBA. They are pretty versatile and so long as you are stationed near a big city there are almost always corporate jobs. What are the best careers or degrees to hold as a military spouse?I think that Physician Assistants are nationally certified and therefore don't have to be recertified each time they move. I you are already a nurse it probably wouldn't be too difficult to get into PA school.

What type of incision for csection is usually made at a military hospital?

I live on a miliotary post and have a military doctor. I already have a csection scar from a previose birth(done by civilian doctor) and it is low transverse. I am terified of having to have a lateral incision. I am 33 weeks pregnant, if they do lateral incisions do I still have a choice to switch to a civilain facility and be covered by tricare prime? Any info will help! What type of incision for csection is usually made at a military hospital?Hi,

They usually do another c-section on the same scar line, it wont be any different. They dont want to cut you up in a different place. My 1st c-section was low near uterus going across (bikini line) my next one is going to be the same.

Good luck with it all. Ask doc if concerned. What type of incision for csection is usually made at a military hospital? This is a question you should really be asking your doctor.

From what I understand most doctors, regardless of nature of employment, will do a low transverse unless circumstances demand otherwise. A lateral incision involves more risk and longer recovery time and to my thinking, most doctors wouldn't inflict that on a patient without just cause.

If you're 33 weeks along, you should be seeing your doctor soon. Ask him/her about this; that way, you'll know for sure and have time to get a referral before you give birth.

What would the US military do if the US suffered a Soviet style economic and social collapse?

I was wondering I dont know about you but i keep hearing about imminent collapse all the time on the news i was wondering what would the military do? Especially those overseas, nobodies getting paid communications are confusing what would happen? What would the US military do if the US suffered a Soviet style economic and social collapse?Fortunately, it's very unlikely, but then the Russians probably thought the same in the late 80s too. If it did happen, an American collapse probably wouldn't be a much different to the Soviet one: once people stop getting paid, the command structure begins to slowly but surely unravel.

Even though the US considers itself somehow "different", the simple truth is that Americans get hungry just as quickly as Russians do. And hungry people don't care much for ideals and principles... or orders. They seek food whatever way they can, whether that be stealing it by force of arms, or selling what they have (weapons) to get hard currency.

As for those overseas, any based in a friendly country would likely receive assistance from that country, even if it be only keeping them fed. (But then, an American collapse would likely precipitate crises among close allies such as the European Union, so assistance might not be absolutely guaranteed. They could be too swamped with their own problems.)

As for those based in a war zone, who knows? Even the most dedicated solider isn't going to risk his life for no pay from a country that may no longer even exist. What would the US military do if the US suffered a Soviet style economic and social collapse?
You're listening to fear mongers, opportunists, doomsdayers (who say everyday the world is over or the US is over), and politically motivated people trying to blame chaos on the Democrats.

Relax. No collapse. The US is still strong. What would the US military do if the US suffered a Soviet style economic and social collapse?Wouldn't effect the military much. Even after the collapse of the soviet union there was still a russian army it just wasn't called the red army anymore. No big deal. What would the US military do if the US suffered a Soviet style economic and social collapse?
they would still exist but probably be in even worse condition than now. last I heard military families are getting welfare because the military pay isnt enough to feed them. What would the US military do if the US suffered a Soviet style economic and social collapse?we would offer them humanitarian and,if we can swing it other help, prn

Can I join the military while being a full-time employee at a defense contractor?

I am not entirely happy with my job as an aerospace engineer in the space launch industry. I am married, make 64K and think it is still not enough to support my wife and I. Is it possible to join the military on the side and make a little extra money while I work fulltime here at my job. I don't think my boss would let me take time off for boot camp...Can I join the military while being a full-time employee at a defense contractor? This is tough...as a defense contractor, you would have to get permission for any secondary job to be sure there is no conflict or security issues. If they approve, you could do reserve or gaurd...your boss would have no choice but to let you go for training and drills. BUT you could be deployed and if that happens you will not be getting paid from your civilian job (although they have to keep it for you once you return) and that would mean a signifigant drop in income most likely. In reality, the military is not the best part time job...too many service requirements and obligations. Can I join the military while being a full-time employee at a defense contractor?
Try the guard or reserve. after basic and other training it is 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year. Talk to a recruiter they can give best info. Can I join the military while being a full-time employee at a defense contractor?Maybe in Reserves or Guard. You have to be careful though. If you are working on a contract that pertains to your Military job you could come into a conflict of interest and could lose your contracting job. This could lead to other problems as well. First thing to do is talk with your boss and a recruiter. See what your options are and go from there. Can I join the military while being a full-time employee at a defense contractor?
If 64K is not enough for you, I think you might have a bit of a problem between your ears, sorry. Other than that, military wages are not all that great, considering. In your case it would have to be reserve duty. I'm sure there are a lot better paying part-time jobs elesewhere. Can I join the military while being a full-time employee at a defense contractor? The only military option is the Guard or Reserve. You would have to take off for Basic Training and AIT, and your boss would have absolutely no choice but to let you off for that. There are federal laws protecting the employment rights of Guard and Reserve soldiers.

How successful were the military tactics used by south the vietnamese government and the USA?

what were the tactics used and how successful where they??

thanks :)How successful were the military tactics used by south the vietnamese government and the USA?In all conventional battles the kill ratio was very much in favour of the ARVN and US forces. Even the Tet offensive cost the NVA and Viet Cong thousnads of men, despite the US media painting this as a win for the communists.

The North had a saying, "for every American we will lose a thousand, and these casualties mean you will tire before us"

And so it was to be: the media and politicians threw away a victory. How successful were the military tactics used by south the vietnamese government and the USA?This is kind of wheels within wheels. The day to day engagements were a toss up - they had tunnels and tactics we weren't used to, but we adapted and had defoliants and helos and fire bombing. I don't know that there were any better or more effective tactics the Americans could have used, given the constraints on them.

    And that's a big point.

The larger purpose of the war was was not to conquer north viet nam. They could have done that in two weeks if they let the dogs off the leash. The purpose was to play a terribly dangerous and important game of chess or chicken with the Soviet Union. This was like playing tennis in a mine field. The US, USSR, and China all had both dogs in the fight and nukes. At any second, someone could have gotten too pissed off or felt offended or whatever and launched what might have been the end of the world. At any time. And generals clamoring to do just that.

The fact that this all played out, with the perfect balance between containing the Soviets while still allowing them to keep enough dignity and not lose face to the point where they boiled over, was perhaps the most brilliant diplomatic and policy achievement in history. How successful were the military tactics used by south the vietnamese government and the USA?napalm against villages, and covert CIA operations were bloody but effective.

well its guerilla warfare in jungles. although the us was in a disadvantage not being real familiar. you can say there successful because they technically never lost a battle

YES, they are great to have and IF used. They increase your chance of hitting your target WHEN you are aiming at the target. Often in urban and countering an ambush REFLEXIVE fire is what either kills the enemy or gets their heads down. I personally shoot iron sights but use my scope (4 power on an adapter attached to the carrying handle) for scanning and intimidation. I also have never found the CCO / red dot (M-68) to be worth the cost. I just go front sight post / waistline to line up a snap shot in close quarters. The PEQ-2 and PEQ-4 are must haves for night reflexive fire. In an OP at night then I'd mount a PAS-13(L) in place of my carrying handle / scope.

    1) Depends on your units Table of Organization and Equipment.

    2) Depends on your particular skill/assignment within your unit.

    3) You can buy and bring your own (optics, accessories) so long as your chain of command says it's OK.

Geez you make it EZ until the JarHead comment! No offense, former squid and out of shape when I decided to join for college money. Here is how my dad laid this down to me when I told him I was going to Enlist:

1.) Start running, don't stop. When you run your goal is weekly, not daily weekly, it will help you rest up as you get caught up. No, I don't mean run once a week, you run twice a day. Morning %26amp; night. The standard military Fit test is 1.5 miles. Trust me, boot camp is way over that daily so just start there. OK, ou start Sunday. Morning 1.5 miles drive it off in your car, a 2 mile course. Start and jog on a slow jog as far as you can go the morning mark a visual with where you had to stop jogging. Don't STOP you now walk as fast as you can, this is much harder than jogging, but if you want it, you gotta do this I'll tell you why in a minute. After you feel walked rested enough visual mark your start and start jogging again. Hopefully you make it the 1.5 miles jogging into 3 sections that first week. That last 1/2 mile every time, regardless you walk it at a slower walk pace to cool down or your going to have all kinds of spasms. that night same thing. Contnue thru to Saturday paying special note to how you feel a little more rested at your stopping points.

Week #2 Warm up in your garage or carport. Anywhere but around people - this is you and you want it with no smart talk form anyone. warm up with 25 Push Ups and 15 Squat Thrusts (up downs if you remember from gym downhands on deck 2, legs straight back 3, legs back up and 4 stand up. then jog. This is week 2 you need to push it to eliminate first stopping point and carry all the way to the second. Do this all the way thru to Saturday.

Week #3 warm up add 5 more push ups %26amp; squat thrusts keep your stops the same but that last start up from your second stop sprint to the 1.5 mile marlk.

Week #4 warm up the same jog and eliminate all the stops, no sprinting this week just make it thru after cool down find a spot for pull ups. This is the hardetst thing about boot camp especially for jarheads. I think they have to do zillions, its all the "This is my rifle this is my gun (grabbing little junior) that they do.

At this point you can join a Gym. If you have weight to lose you might employ a plastic bag to the jogging. At the Gym go for endurance on the Fitness Equipment and don't need free weights you can do that after boot camp. You need endurance.

One of these weeks buy work boots itf you dont have them and walk as fast as you can the entire 1.5 miles. Your shins will feel like razors wanting to cut themselves out of your leg. Welcome to shin splints. All I can say is jog jog jog. Nothing you can do will prepare you for that but they go away after week 5.

My dad was the Command Seagrant Major of a major military base in Texas. He did this for a living and it worked quite well.

I am no Dr and you need to get checked out by one before you put yourself thru this. but thats a no cost easy way to do it and if the gym is not of interest to you (I didn't do it) do chin ups in the garage and start doing sit ups and elastic band resistance exercise. It will work for virtually free. When you get out, if you make it, remember how hard it was to get there and dont let yourself go - its a lot harder to do this when your 42!!!

I wish you Fair Winds %26amp; Following Seas Shipmate! Pray for our troops and PEACE this year! Good Luck! How can I get into shape for military boot camp?
I think your first step has to be to change your mental attitude! You need to focus on your goal - being physically fit enough to complete the training to enter the Marine Corps. Consider joining a gym - meet with a personal trainer and explain your goals. He or she should be able to assess your current level of fitness and set up a training plan to help you improve it.

Also, think about finding a training buddy: craigslist, meetin, meetup and similar networking sites might be useful to find someone in your area with similar goals and/or who is willing to work with you. Having a partner will help to keep you motivated. How can I get into shape for military boot camp?First you need to get and feel the energy so you can go run and work out , its safe and simple you can buy it on line or your parents, its natural BEE POLLEN it is a complete natural food supplement high in proteins, B vitamins, amino acids, and minerals. Take it every day and you will see the difference as well as growing muscle. I buy it from http://www.beeroyalproducts.com its the best and a 30 day supply costs 14.95
join a gym and get a trainerHow can I get into shape for military boot camp?LOTS of push ups, and run alotHow can I get into shape for military boot camp?
first of all, i commend you... marines are hot lol... but let's get to the point! it's hard to get over that exercise hump! but the best thing for it is to see what how much you can do now and do that for about a week... like 20 sit-ups and 10 push-ups a night or something then increase it by 5 or 10 the next week... pretty soon you're high up there... if you really wanna go hard increase it each 3 days... good luck! ;-)
You're going next year, huh? Okay, start off doing 10 sit-ups, 10 push-ups, 20 jumping jacks every other day. Jog twice around a block the days you're not doing your other exercise routine, build up a tolerance and increase the amounts of each.

If you're going to the Marines, this little exercise is going to pale in comparison with what you're actually going to go through...every boot camp is different, every drill sergeant is different, yadda yadda...so there really isn't any sure-fire way (other than once you get there)...Semper Phi!How can I get into shape for military boot camp?
I'd start running if I were you, you will run there and weight training, call a recruiter for the branch you are thinking about going in. I'm sure they could tell you what to do to get in shape

Marines is the hardest branch to get in and they do a lot of running and marching. My son became a Marine, but is out now. They are big on running
Very simple: learn to run. Increase strength through weightlifting and get used to other cardio exercises. Give yourself one year.
Start walking fast now and built up to a 15 minute one mile run. You'll be doing a lot of that in Boot Camp. Start slow 1/2 hour to one hour. Lift 10 lbs weight afterward and just keep doing that...you can do it. Also, eat pasta...you'll feel better when running. Breathe properly while running too.

What classes in college could deal with military strategy?

BESIDES military academies. And not ROTC either, I already know about that. What are some classes that could relate with military strategy? What classes in college could deal with military strategy?Classes that require critical thinking. Classes that require to observe, evaluate what you see, and to derive sound conclusions. Classes that present concrete problems and require you to apply hard, fixed, invariable rules to reach discrete solutions.

Those preclude liberal arts stuff like history. They also preclude the social sciences (so-called). They preclude any study that presents problems with multiple solutions, the merits of which can be debated. They preclude any study that is based solely on memory and recall.

The Navy looks favorably on degrees in Math and the "hard sciences" (like physics or chemistry). The military doesn't have a crying need for mathematicians, physicists, or chemists. But it needs leaders who can reason abstractly and who can come up with answers that are not open to debate, but are right (or wrong) based solely on logic applied to the evidence available. It needs leaders who can think outside the box... beyond what they've learned. I don't know what the other branches prefer, but I suspect their interests are similar, and for the same reasons.

Will a branch look at a candidate with a degree in psychology, library science, English, art, political science, or history? I don't know. But while those candidates are playing around with theories and facts and figures they've memorized from texts, the war rages on. The mathematician observes the situation, performs a situational analysis, maybe consults briefly with experts (guys with experience handling the kind of problem he faces), weighs all the data, and makes a decision.

    Addenda:

If you're thinking about classes that'll teach you what to do when, you really don't want them. No two battles are the same. There's no "step-by-step" method of winning... anything. You'll see guys who've become great leaders because they figured out how to get the best out of their men, how to do more with less, how to use what they had to the best advantage, how to figure out their enemy's weakness and how to exploit it. That's what tactics and strategies instruction is supposed to teach.

You'll learn about how a handful of Greeks held off thousands of Persians. If you study what they did, all you're going to know is how to cope with a whole lot of Persians stuck between ocean and mountain armed only with arrows and spears. But if you learn your lesson well, you'll learn that you take into account the lay of the battlefield, the problems of maneuvering a large number of soldiers in a small area without adequate communications (they didn't have very good radios 450 BC). It was a cool story... if that's what your interested in. It was a loss for the Greeks, although the delaying action paved the way for eventual victory. And it tells you exactly what to do if you have a few hundred Greek soldiers being approached down a narrow beach by thousands of Persians... as long as the Persians haven't read the same account of history... if that's what you want.

I've read "Art of War." I had to study some battles. But in the decade in which I was in command of guys in the field, and the years I spent in the Pentagon, I never wondered what Patton or Cornwallis, or Grant, or Eisenhower, or MacArthur would have done in a situation. I figured out what I had to work with and how best to employ those resources.

I think a good strategist or tactician is one who thinks on his feet. A "book" strategist or tactician is of no more use in combat than a "book" officer is in command. A retired Admiral said that the Regs were written for "left-handed swab handles" (feckless fools) who wouldn't know what to do if it wasn't written down for them somewhere. Learn to think. The rest will follow. What classes in college could deal with military strategy?History classes, especially military history from all era's. A lot of emphasis is placed on how past battles were fought. Civil war battles are taught throughout the various levels of officer training. Leadership classes are also a good idea, to include human behavior, psychology, etc. What classes in college could deal with military strategy?Political Science, Economics, Physics, Linguistics, Anthropology, Music,

Yet scientists are still human. Insulting them could still result in making them irrational.

What do people sacrifice by joining the Military?

What personal sacrifices do people make by joining the Military?

Some aspects of this question are pretty obvious, but for people who are actually in the Military, which of your own freedoms have you given up for others? What do people sacrifice by joining the Military?Friends, family, the bands I was in, family a second time, the ability to take a week off if I wanted to, the choice of where to live, sleep and the inability to quit when I don't like it.

But, to be honest, it's all been worth it. I mean, other than those things listed above, it's really worth it. You can't ask for a better thing to do with your life. What do people sacrifice by joining the Military?
I personally gave up the independence of living in my own apartment. I also haven't seen my dog or hometown in 2 years (haven't been able to take more than 2 days leave at a time; my field is almost critically manned). I broke up with my long-time boyfriend, who I might very well have married. For 6.5 weeks of Basic, and then 28 days of tech school, I essentially gave up my right to privacy. I also don't have the right to choose where I want to live and when, or whether, I want to move. I don't have the ability to just hand in my two weeks' notice, either.

I have a very dear friend who broke up with the love of his life because he wasn't going to see her for 2 years (OCS, then training, then 15 month deployment). 13 months later, he's still upset about it and misses her terribly; she's still a bit of a wreck too.

In the end, though, it's worth it. Everything. I love waking up in the morning and knowing that my sacrifice makes it possible for my loved ones to enjoy their freedom. I love the life I have built for myself. I love what I do; I love that I'm getting my Bachelor's degree for free right now. I love being in a combat zone and helping Soldiers and Marines and Airmen and Sailors and Guardsmen recover from attacks (I'm a medic). I love the Airmen I serve with; they're the best friends I've ever had. I love that when I look at an American flag, I feel the most powerful swell of pride and love. I love knowing that my grandchildren will be free, due in part to my service. What do people sacrifice by joining the Military?I am not in the military but my husband is and we have had to sacrifice so much. We have been together for 10 and 1/2 years now. When we got together I was only 15 and he was 18 just joined the service. So from my 10th grade year in highschool until I got out and we got married (1 month after I graduated) we missed out on homecomings, proms the normal life of a teenager. Than we tried for 5 years to have a baby and when we finally got pregnant 2 months later he came down on orders for Iraq. He missed 6 months of my pregnancy due to leaving and being in the field. Than he missed our daughter's birth and got to meet her when she was 2 and 1.2 months. But than left again until she was 11 months old. That was very hard and still hard to deal with because all of the firsts of everything he missed. We just now had our son and he did get to see him born but left for his 2nd deployment to Iraq and its been very hard but luckily just got home a week ago. So many people take there freedom for granted because they forget. My little brother once said if people have to give up something that was important to them like sacrifice there cell phones everyday than they would just see a taste of what our Men and Woman in uniform have to go threw and there families.
My husband was in the Army, and I am joining the Air Force soon. I think that the biggest sacrifice is time away from your family. My husband deployed when my son was only 3 months old, and didn't come back till he was almost 2. He missed the first time he crawled, walked, and talked. I sent him video tape of everything, but it's not the same. For single people I don't know if Family is the biggest sacrifice. I guess it depends on how close they are with their family. What do people sacrifice by joining the Military?their whole life changes, so I guess they give up life as they knew it up to enlistment. way to go "above all " I just want to say...thank you for your service. my niece is going in the Air Force tomarrow and my nephew is in Iraq. thank you to all military. My thoughts and best wishes . hope you're all home soon. What do people sacrifice by joining the Military?
tell ya what, after the first day you wake up at Boot-camp at 4:30 am and feel that freshly shaved head and hear the trash can lids smashing together until everyone is standing at attention waiting to be barked orders at until Graduation, you will have a small taste of the Sacrifice~!!!
Time, Freedom, Family, Friends, and a large portion of the Bill of Rights, so far is what I've given up.What do people sacrifice by joining the Military?
The freedom of speech and those "thick black" lines
    Time away from family.

  • What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?

I am not talking go int to Iraq but doing public service works. For example, my son is going to college for nursing, he could work 2 years at a military hospital or veterans home. Get some experience and see if that was the career for him. I think it would give more of our youth pride in their country and for themselves. I also think an additional 2 years to grow up before they have to make life time decisions is not necessarily a bad thing. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?First of all, I am against the government making things "mandatory" so naturally I am against mandatory enlistment.... hard enough to get quality recruits from the all voluntary force we have now. The quality of soldier would be worse if they are forced to be there. What makes our military the best in the world is the fact the our soldiers want to be there and are motivated and proud of their serviceWhat would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?
There would be zero benefits to such a scheme. The detriments would include: forced slavery to the state, irrational pride in a system that is bankrupt and immoral, and more time wasted in institutions that stultify rather than create. Why on earth would you want to subject young people to even MORE mandatory servitude after the state has already wasted their time through 12 years in the public education camps? What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?I personally think tying federal financial aid for colleges and universities to required public service could be a good idea if the system is managed and funded appropriately. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?
It would do wonders for all involved. They would get training be taught discipline an the country would after time have a standing army of millions if needed all trained. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?I don't like our government telling us ANYTHING is mandatory. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?
who will pay for that? taxes???

Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?

Also, can you be shipped out wherever the military wants or do you have a choice in the matter? Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?It is an MOS in the Army. You serve your time based on your enlistment contract not what job you have. And you go where the military tells you.Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?MP is an MOS, however the Marine Corps installations are transitioning their security (policing) to civilians (I think the Air Force is too, don't know about the other services). These police are not Marines but work the same jobs and shifts as the MP's currently, I believe the ultimate goal is to replace the MP's on base entirely eventually. The civilians don't deploy, they work strictly at the base they are hired for, and won't get transferred unless they apply for it. The positions are government jobs and you can apply for them with http://www.usajobs.gov/Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?Uh...military police is just another job in the military guy...no different than an Infantryman or a cook or a mechanic. you sign a contract that obligates you to X number of years of service.

US Military: How to Separate the Hype from the Real?

Recruiters are notorious for making all these crazy promises, and the military commercials are dramatic and often epic. As much as that effort is admirable, I think it creates problems for people seriously considering joining the military in one aspect or another.

So how do you know what's real and what's not (or at partially)?US Military: How to Separate the Hype from the Real? Are you sure your statement is correct? A good recruiter doesn't need to lie to an applicant and a lying recruiter won't stay a recruiter for long. If I lied to someone to get them in then chances are they will call home and tell people I lied to them when they learn the truth. Which would ruin any chance of being successful again. It's just like a bad car dealership. Once they get a reputation of ripping people off, less and less people go there, causing them to go out of business.

Almost all recruiters are military and the scant few who are civilian contractors are usually prior service. They can tell you about their experiences. To this day, I have never told anybody they won't deploy, I have never told anybody they are guaranteed a bonus, and I never told anybody that they will never have a bad day in the Army. The fact is that you can have a bad day no matter what you do. I tell facts and 99% of recruiters will do the same.

If you want to join but don't believe the recruiters then do your research. Google is a great tool. At the same time, learn how to sort legitimate information from the BS. Half of the answers for questions like this are usually from either point-gainers who give a stupid answer and move to another category or anti-military trolls. Also, watch out for those counter-recruiting pages since some of the stuff they post is complete garbage.US Military: How to Separate the Hype from the Real?
How do you know what's real about anything in life? Get out there and do research. Talk to people who were part of the military. Talk to people who are currently in the military. Take a tour of a base. Watch videos of training (non military sponsored) on the internet. Go to military forums and talk to people. Read your contract.US Military: How to Separate the Hype from the Real?if you are wondering about heroes. yes they are real and they go about their day like no big deal. i have seen them. i've done things i thought would qualify as heroic but these guys eclipse me and they think nothing of it, just another day on the job.

    so epic, yes.

recruiters cannot lie to you, by law. you need to know what questions to ask and do not fool yourself as some do, or build answers to your questions in your head. ask them a thousand questions.
My husband got lucky and his recruiter just told it to him straight. That's because he wasn't a hard sell. He wanted to be a Marine and didn't need lies to convince him to enlist.

There are things his recruiter didn't tell us, but it's nothing a few minutes on the internet can't clear up. It honestly boggles my mind when I hear people tell stories of all the lies their recruiter told them and they never bothered to double check some of it.US Military: How to Separate the Hype from the Real?I second the Sgt. If it's in writing, you'll get it. If not, someone's blowing smoke up your @$$. It's your career. Do the research on what's what. Your recruiter is a wealth of information, and only the crappy ones lie to their applicants. Just make sure everything he or she says you'll get is on your contract before you sign it.US Military: How to Separate the Hype from the Real?
Whatever is included, in print, in your actual enlistment contract, which you sign, will happen.

The rest of it is not guaranteed.
Get yourself an unbiased sponsor, someone in the military and interested in helping future soldiers, anyone in the military can do it and they can give you true information about what is going on.US Military: How to Separate the Hype from the Real?
I recommend talking to a real military person. Someone that is in the military. They will be straight up with you and not make something sound good if it isn't
Those Marine commercials where the guy in the wife beater is going through the labyrinth, fighting a centaur, and jumping over lava are slight exaggerations.
There are literally millions of veterans out there in the country.. ask them. Recruiters will answer questions posed to them, if someone prefers to be ignorant and not research what they are getting into, then its "buyer beware".
what ever they put down on your contract is the only thing that is real
One of the ways is to ask on Yahoo several Direct questions

But beware of those that say they were for so many are sometimes posers who are Good at reading

there is one That has no ideas of anything outside Vietnam

but he will tell you he does

Recruiters are only interested in Numbers

when i Joined I was Lucky because there were 10 of thousands of ex servicemen who i asked about the RAF and after a few that all said the same thing i had an idea of what to expect and after Joining the RAF at 17 was not disappointed and continued my career for 38 years in 2 Air Forces

I've been active duty for 6+ years and have deployed twice. I'm not gonna lie. I started out active duty and then served 1.5 years in the guard. Active duty is much more demanding and they have much control over your life. You're a soldier 24/7, on post or off, weekends, holidays, sleeping, eating, being with your significant other. Basic Training and AIT together will eat up at least 4 months if not longer. If you get in trouble with the law in the civilian world you'll get punished again my your unit. NG or Active there might be a good change you'll deploy somewhere. There are strict rules and regulations you have to follow and rank structure is very important.

The military is not all bad. Unfortunately, when one of us does something stupid, (like hitting his g/f) we all look like that. There are more perks, at the cost of sacrifice. The army values come into play and all around it has changed my life in ways I can't describe. Active duty soldiers are more fit b/c we PT Mon through Fri. We get all this cool equipment to shoot, use, drive, ride, etc. The uniform kicks and random people will just start talking to you. You get to do thins that most people never get a chance to do or see. CNN and those shows only show what will get them ratings.

Basic really sucks of course, AIT get's better, and your first unit will be somewhat better. Once you've been at your unit a few months things will have fallen into place. There's much more to know about the "real" army than the one being fed to coerce people into joining. Recruiters get paid bonuses for every soldier that completes basic and AIT. I worked with a guy that changed over to being a recruiter and I've been messed over by one. Good luck with what this is taking you.

Can I write off military items on my taxes?

I'm in the military and I'm allowed to add accessories to my rifle, since it's pretty plain. These accessories would cost me a total of about $2,000. Can I use those as a tax write-off?Can I write off military items on my taxes? In the first answer, note the phrase "As long as it is something that is required by the military." Understand that "required" means mandatory or ordered. If they are optional, then they are not required. Can I write off military items on my taxes?
Yes you can as long as it is something that you have to spend your own money on for military use. As long as it is something that is required by the military. Can I write off military items on my taxes? You can if it is required by your employer or if it is required to adequately do your job. It is not if you are doing it just because you want to. So it sounds like NO to me.

It would be like me trading in my company car for a Ferrari and deducting the difference on my taxes. The company car is "pretty plain" and I would sure like to drive a Ferrari instead and take the difference off my taxes. But that would be NO to me too!Can I write off military items on my taxes?
you can not add anything to your uniform or rifles if they are NOT MILITARY ISSUED.Can I write off military items on my taxes? Not if you are doing it just to dress it up - since you say that otherwise it's pretty plain, it doesn't sound like these accessories are required, or improve the function.

What happens if you are in the military and your spouse does illegal drugs?

there is an outstanding individual I have. He is excellent in work, and is destined to be a great leader. His fiance smokes marijuana. What (if anything) can happen to the person in the military if something happens (like he gets married, and then his wife is caught doing the drugs by authority). Well this affect his career in the military? What happens if you are in the military and your spouse does illegal drugs?Depends, if shes caught on post, yes it will effect him.

If he lets it in his house, he is responsible for it.

If its off base, again, if its in his house, he is responsible for it.

BAH pays for the service members housing, not the spouses housing.

So he is responsible for whats in his house.

If shes caught out somewhere else, then it won't effect him at all, unless he is there to.

IE: he cannot be in a car with someone smoking a joint and say, I didn't do anything illegal. What happens if you are in the military and your spouse does illegal drugs?
Well, first I would try to be a great husband and help her in any way I can to make her stop, it can kill and cause pain to say the least.

If that fails, I would leave her. It's not worth it. It will make her think about it more and hopefully get off of it.

But it doesn't affect you, it's a totally different person, as long as you didn't influence her decision or supplied her with drugs, it won't involve youWhat happens if you are in the military and your spouse does illegal drugs?Maybe his grandma does it too.
If she is jailed or is selling drugs it might be an issue but just as long as he is clean and can pass his random UA's then he is fine...What happens if you are in the military and your spouse does illegal drugs?if she is caught off the installation by civilian authority's it should not effect his career besides word of mouth and the rumor mill. if she is caught on the installation either while they are still engaged or married, he will be held responsible because he got her on base and acts as her "sponsor". once they are on the installation he will be held responsible for all her actions whether it be shoplifting at the px or using drugs. if that happens, it will effect his career. What happens if you are in the military and your spouse does illegal drugs?
Absolutely will impact his Military Career...

Just by her smoking it...he will absorb it also...

(He will be getting a second hand High...)

Then if having to have a Pee Test he will show

    up positive...OTH Discharge...

He needs to find another GF that isn't a Drug Addict...

MJ is a gateway drug that WILL lead to

    harder and harder Drugs...

She will Bankrupt and take him to the bottom...

then still say she doesn't have a problem...

If she is using MJ she has a problem...
It depends on the situation. If the couple were living on base/post and the spouse was found with the substance coming onto/off base or in a search of any type, then yes, it would definitely affect that person's career!

If a problem arises where the person using the substance is causing financial or legal issues because of the problem, then that will also cause problems for the military member.
