Are all automotive vacuum lines interconnected somehow?

I'm in the final stages of swapping an engine (1995 Olds 88) and I'm wondering how I'm supposed to figure out where all these vacuum lines went. Is there some sort of large "vacuum"-type component somewhere and everything splits off from that or are they all different vacuum circuits that are separately controlled with separate pressures? And if so, would a repair manual (haynes) have a workable diagram?Are all automotive vacuum lines interconnected somehow?
Question 1. Nope they do not.



Question 2. Yes the manual will have this.
All of the car's vacuum lines end-up at the intake manifold, the source. There is usually a 'log' sub-manifold, a hollow piece with several smaller lines running from it, %26amp; one larger line feeding it, from the intake manifold. There are also several vacuum powered switches %26amp; sensors around the engine, %26amp; these systems have to be plumbed correctly, in order, or you'll have a problem.Are all automotive vacuum lines interconnected somehow?
you have two types of vacuum, manifold and timed. they all go back to the same source of vacuum yes, but you do not want to have some devices to have manifold (full) vacuum at specific times. you need to find a book that should have a vacuum diagram or literature to help you with this adventure. your vehicle will have way more than a few lines.
Yeah, they can be, there should be a vacummn pump on it, its either on the back of alternator or on the end of the camshaft, other than that it might get the vacummn off the inlet manifold, What you need is an identicle car to take a look at, dont think haynes manual will show that upAre all automotive vacuum lines interconnected somehow?
theres differnt lines going differnt places doing differnt things,,also known as rats nest,,,,repair manual is 25 dollars,,,best 25 you will EVER spend
yes get a manual or you could get everything screwed up. different hoses goes to different places.
