Where is the "engine block drain plug" for coolant and how on earth dis/re-connect the lower radiator hose?

1994 Ford Escort LX 1.9 L 4Cyl with 142,000 miles and going.

In process of: flushing coolant, new hoses, new thermostat. Haynes Repair Manual says there is a engine block drain plug to get the rest of the coolant out but no photo.

Please describe where/what I'm looking for, or provide a photo ?

Thanks so much !Where is the "engine block drain plug" for coolant and how on earth dis/re-connect the lower radiator hose?
i've never heard of an ehgine block drain plug, but there is a drain plug on the radiator itself, called a "petcock". the best way to remove coolant from your engine block water jackets is to remove the upper and lower radiator hoses and take out the thermostat. grab a garden hose, shove it in the thermostat housing(where upper rad hose connects to engine) and turn the water up full blast. if water starts rushing out of the bottom of the block, your correctly flushing the block.

this same thing can be done to flush the radiatorWhere is the "engine block drain plug" for coolant and how on earth dis/re-connect the lower radiator hose?
there should be a small plug somewhere by the soft plugs, it probably has a square end on it instead of a regular bolt.
