Which is the best auto repair manual: Haynes,Clymer or Chiltons. I need one for a 2005 Toyota Camry. ThanksRecommended an auto repair manual.?
Forget all of those. Go to the dealer, or look in Hemming's Motor News (magazine- available at bookstores) and get a set of FACTORY Maintenance Manuals. Try to find a used set, because a new set will be pretty steep. (My Saturn set ran $170) All of the above manuals will give you just enough info to get you into trouble, but not enough to get you back out. Clymer and Chilton books were both good, years ago. But they are run by modern publishing houses, and they leave a LOT of critical info out, and also have a lot of wrong info stated as fact. When you get them (the factory manuals) you will get 5-9 separate volumes to make up the whole set. With a Haynes, Chilton, or Clymer you will get one book. Just ask yourself what they did with all the other info that was needed? I bought the complete factory set when I had a 73 Pinto, a 79 Mustang, an 89 Dodge Caravan, and my 95 Saturn. I'm about to buy another set for my 82 Dodge truck that I just got. If you really need to troubleshoot or diagnose something, or are wondering how a special tool is supposed to work, the factory manuals show you. The Chilton, Clymer and Haynes all leave you in the dark.Recommended an auto repair manual.?
I've never even seen a Clymer but between Hayne's and Chilton's, hands down, the Haynes. Way more detail about repairs. Not to mention a much better troubleshooting section. I was totally unhappy with the Chilton's in every way.Recommended an auto repair manual.?
I personally like Chiltons. To me, Haynes sucks. They are very vague.
