I have an electrical problem and my buddy who works on motorcycles says that he needs a "service manual" by my ignorance I ordered a clymer's repair manual. He says that there is a difference. Where can I find a service manual for my 1981 suzuki gs550? Everything I've searched for online comes up as a clymer's or haynes' repair/owners manual. please help.Is there a difference between a service manual and a repair manual for my suzuki gs550?
Service and repair manuals are the same thing. The big difference is Factory manual vs Clymer's and Hayne's manuals.A factory manual has far more information in it than aftermarket manuals.
What he wants is a factory service manual. That would be sold by a Suzuki dealer.A factory service manual is much more comprehensive than the generic Clymer and Hayne's books are. They cost more but are worth the extra money. It might be hard to find for a bike that old.If the dealer can't get it do an online search.Type in 1981 Suzuki GS550 factory servive manual. Is there a difference between a service manual and a repair manual for my suzuki gs550?
I agree with Bob A's description.
Factory service manuals for those years were hard to find when I looked years ago.
That said, I found the Clymer's manual to be very clear in the electrical department.
you probably mean owners manual and repair/service manual.
yes two diff manuals..
owners manuals are basis info on how to use the item
service/repair manuals are to repair the item...incluiding wire diagrams and tip and step by step directions, etc...Is there a difference between a service manual and a repair manual for my suzuki gs550?
The 2 you mention are the same. They are good manuals usually and have everything you will need for repairing and servicing it
