What kind of power steering fluid do i put in my 99 Isuzu Amigo?

I need to top off the power steering reservoir in my 1999 Isuzu Amigo (3.2L v6 with auto tranny). The owners manual and my Haynes repair manual say to use Dexron IIe auto transmission fluid. But some employees and mechanics in the local auto stores claim I can just get by with ordinary power steering fluid. Who is right? What kind of power steering fluid do i put in my 99 Isuzu Amigo?
Best to use ATF if you can't find simple power steering fluid.

Either one should work OK. The problem comes when you get a PS Reservoir or high pressure hose leak. Then you may have to go with something having higher viscosity to keep from having leaks on the garage floor below. Most power steering systems are not bothered by what kind of fluid is used in them, unless the system is leaking and you only need to top off the reservoir. What kind of power steering fluid do i put in my 99 Isuzu Amigo?
Actually these two fluids are pretty mush the same exact thing. If you have trouble finding the exact Dextron fluid Valvoline power steering fluid will work fine. NAPA, Car Quest and Auto Zone has this product. If for some strange reason you have a slight leak somwhere in your system

We use Lucas stop leak and conditioner fluid. It's viscosity is somewhat higher but it quiets powersteering pumps and stops small leaks. Again, the top sources has this product. What kind of power steering fluid do i put in my 99 Isuzu Amigo?
Here is a link to all of your chioces. Any of these will be fine. I would stay away from the stop leak types, unless you need it.
