actually, Nichols Publishing purchased the Chilton Consumer Automotive group. In 2003 Nichols sold the do-it-yourself automotive print manuals to Haynes Publishing Group, So now you'll find the Chilton's and Haynes manuals with the same title have the same information but formatted differently!

Which automotive repair manual is better...Haynes or Chilton's?Chilton's is much better
I find that Haynes usually has a little more info than Chilton. That being said if you are not mechanically inclined neither manual will do you much good because they don't tell you step by step procedures jsut general info on how to get to what you need.Which automotive repair manual is better...Haynes or Chilton's?
Chiltons is better. But the best is to buy the actual repair manual for your vehicle from the manufacturer. But they are expensive. But you get what you pay for. If you plan on working on the truck very much, it's worth it.
haynes the best
haynes manuals suck. they tend to try to cover way to many different model years in one book, and they are very general. also, in my opinion, they usually tell you the hard way to do something. get a chilton, if you must. i pity your poor door panel if youve never done this before.
I always preferred Haynes. =)
My late husband was a mechanic and owned his own shop...he swore by Chiltons repair manuals at home!
to be honest with you ive had to refrence from both of them ive found more than once that one manual will have information the other didnt have and vise versa so if you cant find what your looking for in one book try the other
