Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?

Also, can you be shipped out wherever the military wants or do you have a choice in the matter? Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?It is an MOS in the Army. You serve your time based on your enlistment contract not what job you have. And you go where the military tells you.Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?MP is an MOS, however the Marine Corps installations are transitioning their security (policing) to civilians (I think the Air Force is too, don't know about the other services). These police are not Marines but work the same jobs and shifts as the MP's currently, I believe the ultimate goal is to replace the MP's on base entirely eventually. The civilians don't deploy, they work strictly at the base they are hired for, and won't get transferred unless they apply for it. The positions are government jobs and you can apply for them with http://www.usajobs.gov/Are military police stuck in the military for a set time or is it more like a job?Uh...military police is just another job in the military guy...no different than an Infantryman or a cook or a mechanic. you sign a contract that obligates you to X number of years of service.
