I am not talking go int to Iraq but doing public service works. For example, my son is going to college for nursing, he could work 2 years at a military hospital or veterans home. Get some experience and see if that was the career for him. I think it would give more of our youth pride in their country and for themselves. I also think an additional 2 years to grow up before they have to make life time decisions is not necessarily a bad thing. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?First of all, I am against the government making things "mandatory" so naturally I am against mandatory enlistment.... hard enough to get quality recruits from the all voluntary force we have now. The quality of soldier would be worse if they are forced to be there. What makes our military the best in the world is the fact the our soldiers want to be there and are motivated and proud of their serviceWhat would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?
There would be zero benefits to such a scheme. The detriments would include: forced slavery to the state, irrational pride in a system that is bankrupt and immoral, and more time wasted in institutions that stultify rather than create. Why on earth would you want to subject young people to even MORE mandatory servitude after the state has already wasted their time through 12 years in the public education camps? What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?I personally think tying federal financial aid for colleges and universities to required public service could be a good idea if the system is managed and funded appropriately. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?
It would do wonders for all involved. They would get training be taught discipline an the country would after time have a standing army of millions if needed all trained. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?I don't like our government telling us ANYTHING is mandatory. What would be the benefits/deterrents of 2 years of mandatory military service for young adults?
who will pay for that? taxes???
