Japan relied on small torpedo boats that were easy to maneuver and were able to sink the obsolete (technologically old) Russian fleet in the area. However Japan did NOT have army superiority in Russia. Japan was beaten back several times by Siberian troops equipped with better tanks at the Russo-Japanese border.
