How long would the military last if it were cut off from oil?

I have heard that the US military without oil would be on its knees in two weeks. If this is true i would like to use it in a debate, and i need to have a source to cite for it. Any help would be appreciated. How long would the military last if it were cut off from oil?It would last long enough to get to Venezuella or where other oil is. To the other posters...

The same is true for any other nation without oil.

Saddam had plenty of oil and he invaded kuwait to help pay for the Iraq-Iran war.How long would the military last if it were cut off from oil?
That would be true of ANY military force in the world. It is interesting that someone specified the US military...hmmmm.How long would the military last if it were cut off from oil?We have a strategic petrolium reserve which can run the whole country for about 6 months, although not at full capacity.

So, it all depends on where the military was fighting and how you were 'cutting' them off. If they couldn't receive shipments, even from the US mainland, then that would be a problem. However, given the US military's dominance in the world today, that's far from a concern.
The first poster is correct.

Also, you need to consider our nuclear powered ships and submarines which are capable of firing all sorts of missles. Not to mention our land-based strategic weapons (MIRVed ICBMs for example). How long would the military last if it were cut off from oil?Actually we would be on our feet. If our trucks/tanks stop we might not be as effective as we were, but even on the ground we are a formidible fighting force. Slower and less powerful? Yes. On our knees and out of the fight? Never. How long would the military last if it were cut off from oil?
Well, our troops wouldn't have any transportation. So the military will be drastically crippled. We would have no tanks, aviation vehicles, or land vehicles.
it really depends on where. i do know that the M1A1 Abrams main battle tank can run on any liquid combustable, even kerosene. How long would the military last if it were cut off from oil?
As usual the military is ahead of the civilians. They can run on vegetable oil.

what do you think the national oil reserve is for? not for your car
