Need help with 2002 Ford Sport Utility Explorer Repair!!!!?

I am trying to replace a fuel filter on a 2002 Ford Explorer. The problem I am running into is; The retaining clips are off, but the fuel lines will not slide off the filter. I am wondering if I need to run the vehicle out of gas by disconnecting the fuel pump fuse, If so what number fuse? I have looked all over the internet for repair sites to help out and I can't find a solution in the Haynes Manual for this vehicle. Anyone please help....Any advice would be great.Need help with 2002 Ford Sport Utility Explorer Repair!!!!?
It takes a special tool to release the lines. Here is a pic of the tool you need.

Call a Ford dealer's parts dept. and ask them about it. They should help you.Need help with 2002 Ford Sport Utility Explorer Repair!!!!?
You need to spray some lubricant on there and let it sit for an hour, or some water, and try rotating the lines back and forth, before you start pulling out.
There's a valve in the fuel line at the engine that looks like a tire valve. Use a nice thick cotton rag around it and release the line pressure there. If you didn't leave any pieces of clip there, a little turning and pulling should get the filter off.
