You need to remove the pan so you can also change the fluid. The lines he is talking about attach to the radiator. Yes you could drain it from there, but you could not change the filter. It will leave some dirty fluid behind either way you do it, but most of it will be fresh, so it does not matter. The "machine" is a bad idea. Draining it and changing the filter is best.Chanings fully the transaxle fluid\oil on 2005 Dodge Neon 4 Cylinders C 2.0L?
In addition to draining the pan, you will have to remove the differential cover, as it is lower than the pan. You can disconnect the cooler lines and blow out the fluid with compressed air. That still will not get it all out as there is no way to drain the torque converter. The only way to get 100% new fluid in your trans-axle is to take it to a shop that has the machine to do it. The pan is pulled and all fluid that will drain is drained. The filter is replaced, the pan put back on and the trans refilled. The cooler line is then parted and the machine, which is full of new fluid, is hooked into the cooler lines. While the engine is running, the fluid in the trans is collected in a separate tank in the machine and new fluid is put into the trans-axle. When done, 99.9% of the fluid in the trans-axle is new. This procedure, commonly known as 'flushing' is perceived as some to be harmful to the transmission, when it is in fact just like flushing the toilet.
