Hi, can a backyard sortof mechanic replace a 99 Toyota Corolla clutch? ?

I'll buy the Haynes, or similar type repair manual. Just wondering if any special tools are needed, also any tips or info on the "how to" would be appreciated--I'll be doing it for a friend that can't afford to have a shop do it--ThanksHi, can a backyard sortof mechanic replace a 99 Toyota Corolla clutch? ?
If you have never replaced a clutch,I would never try it without someone there with expert experience. You will in the end, pay a tow truck and a shop the extra cost to reassemble your car.

A back yard man can do the job,Yes.

With the knowledge.

Don't forget to machine shop the flywheel and replace the rear main oil seal.
Yes you can do it, although expect to be a day long and very dirty job. Once you are done, the front suspension will need to get aligned. I believe the front axle will have to be remove as well as the steering components.

You'll save a whole lots of money and gain so much experiences too!Hi, can a backyard sortof mechanic replace a 99 Toyota Corolla clutch? ?
You could try - but I would not. You would have to jack the car up, remove the transaxle, lower it to the ground (and support it so as to not damage it), take it apart . . . I would not attempt it without a fully equipped shop. It's not like changing the brakes.
i,am a shadetree mechanic and i changed several clutches. all you need is a floor jack, tools and a alignment tool to line the clutch up.Hi, can a backyard sortof mechanic replace a 99 Toyota Corolla clutch? ?
