Subaru outback legacy Park/Neutral and back-up light switch problem?

so i bought a '99 subaru legacy outback engine and transmission for my '98 subaru Legacy outback. It's an automatic. 2.5L engine. Everything is stock. Now after taking the old engine and transmission out and putting the new ones in i have one problem. Everything hooks up but one electrical plug on the transmission. My Haynes repair manual calls it a "Park/Neutral and back-up light switch Terminal" The connector on my car (link 1) is a female connector with 16 holes. The connector on my new transmission (link 2) is a male connector with what looks like 5 prongs.

what i was wondering is,

Is there a way around this? Can i get an adapter? Is this the wrong transmission? Is there any way to clearly define the differences?
