Fluid leaking from my Transmission?

I have a fluid leak from my Transmission. I think I have found the source and a fix.

I am looking for confirmation and/or more information on my problem

I have a 1975 Ford F350 chassi motorhome w/ a 3 speed automatic transmission

I have a some transmission fliud leaking. I have cleaned the mess it makes off several times.

I thought it might be the pan gasket leaking. After the last good cleaning I think I found the source.

The only technical info I have is a Haynes Repair Manual.

There is a nut with a square headed screw on side of tranny just forward of the shift linkage.

Accorrding to the Haynes R M this is most likely the intermediate band adjustment screw.

It looks like the leak is coming from the screw. I am pretty handy an mechanical.

I have changed out the rear full floating axle seals, complete with brakes, and replaced the steering gear box.

My question is: Can I just remove the intermediate band adjustment screw "LOCK NUT" and replace it with a new lock nut to stop the fluid leakage?

I don't want to mess with any tranny shift adjustments. So as long as I don't move the screw I should be alright. Fluid leaking from my Transmission?
I think this is something you need to truly verify and confirm with more then one pro source I'd be calling a few transmission shops and asking those experts what's what.

That could be an internal seal leakage or issue but I'd try to compare where the transmission pan is and the depth and local of the screw or seal bec maybe by removing the pan you can gain better repair access to it even.

It may just require adding a bit of transmission treatment to it to stop or slow down that leak.Note some treatment or additives take time to react and go through the whole system.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way the big reference library's may have detailed transmission info or repair speciality manuals on that transmission.Fluid leaking from my Transmission?
i believe you are capable of fixing the problem. however just replacing the lock nut will not change the oil from leaking around the threads of the adjustment screw and since you don't want to take the chance of moving the adjustment of the intermediate band as you said then i recommend you take it to a reputable transmission repair shop and have them do this repair for you !Fluid leaking from my Transmission?
couple choices: you could take it to shop. if you have band adjustment procedures you can replace part and follow instructions to make sure its properly adjusted. are you certain its not just a line pressure tap?
Don't mess with the lock nut. Take the vehicle to a transmission shop.
