Important Question, Mitsubishi Tritons and Pajeros , Important, please read, are they by any chance the same?

I have a 1988 Mitsubishi MF triton that I have been chasing up a workshop manual for a while since ive owned it since the begging of this year. I have looked in different car and maintenance stores, and also online. I found a website that sells them, so I found the year, and all the specifications were correct. My model MF was also mentioned in the details.

Check it out for yourself

I ordered the second one out of the 3 listed

So we got one, and it came today. Its a haynes repair manual and covers a lot of important stuff.

However it does not mention triton at all on the front cover or on the index, but it does cover the same sized engine I have in my Triton.

So would they be the same and the pajero engines ?

I have looked in some pictures of the different parts of the engine that look the same as mine.

So would they be the same ?

Is it safe to follow this manual ?

Would all other parts olutside the motor be the same also, such as wheel bearings and brake pads, ect

Perhaps it explains why it was so hard to find a manual for triton, because they were covered as pajero engines the whole time

Please help, thankyou for your time and thanks for reading my question.

MF tritons and pajeros of that era shared the same motor. There was the 4g54 and the 6g72. 2.6l inline 4 carby and 3.0l injected v6.Both motors are virtually the same other then some very minor details. For looking at the engine side of things id say it would be fine.there is slight differences in the gearbox ratios etc but the general setup is the same.

Parts ouside of the motor could be the same.they are all very similar in there appearance and operation.like many cars there would be a tiny differences in sizes etc(or possibly a big difference!)Brake pads are probably different. What are you planmning on doing?
