i have a 2001 Ford Escape XLS 4x4 V6 3.0L. the trunk solenoid is bad( the peice that locks ans unlocks the lifgate door)...

Then i thoguth wow thats the same EXACT problem i have... im a 13 Year old kid and its my moms car..... andh im hispanic and my parent dont know much... my dad has been hastling me so much about this part.....



in the Haynes Repair Manual We got at Auto Zone its called its called the lifgate latch remote control... below will be a picture of the peice in the manual..

also in the next couple weeks my mom will taker her car to the dealer to fix the ABS recall..... and i told her to ask this to the dealer and to find the price ... but i want to see if i can find the piece in a seperate place.... my dad is sort of a mechanic...

I think that part is under recall. Check with your dealer. If it is you should get it install for free. If it's not under recall you can should be able to find that part on Ebay or Amazon.com or Partsamerica.com just do a search for it. It will probably be half as expensive then what the dealer would charge. Good luck. You sound very smart for a 13 year old. Many adults wouldn't even begin to understand this stuff.This Part ??????????????
You can get the solenoid from the dealership for sure. You might be able to purchase it from any other autoparts stores as well, such as Napa Checker Autozone ect. Prices will vary with the dealership probably being the most expensive.

you need a new electric lock latch for the rear gate, or you may have a blown fuse. you want wnt to see if there is a fuse for the liftgate, and it is bad. i have had this happen.
Try "Autozone.com" or J.C Whitney catalog. I don't have the link, so just google the name. You can do a parts search then. I think J C Whitney will be the best chance of finding the part.
